MARGAO: Fatorda Football Club overcame Salcete Football Club 1-0 to annex the U-14 Snows Football Festival, organised by Snows Football Academy, Raia at Panchayat ground, Raia, recently.
Both the teams displayed attacking brand of soccer and raised the game. The all-important goal was scored by Ashlon Gomes.
Stung by the setback, Salcete FC mounted pressure on the rival citadel but rival defenders stood tall in protecting their slender lead till the final whistle .
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Salcete FC defeated Tilamaol Youth Sports Club while Fatorda FC beat Youth Welfare of Passgem,
Following were the individual awards: First scorer of the final: Ashlon Gomes (Fatorda FC); Man of the Match: Hanslem Furtado (Fatorda); Best goalkeeper: Ryan (Salcete FC); Best defender: Aloysious (Salcete FC).
Fatorda FC were richer by Rs 10,000 and a trophy while Salcete Football Club had to settle for Rs 7,000 and a trophy.
Tilamol Youth Sports Club bagged Rs 3,000 for third place.
