CHANDRAWADDO-FATORDA: Fatorda Veterans blanked Pernem Veterans 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Fatorda Veterans football tournament, at DBO ground, Murida-Fatorda, on Wednesday.
Fatorda midfielder Vincent Barbosa was instrumental in creating chances, passes and power-packed shots. In the fifth minute, Vincent took a power-packed shot but it hit the Pernem cross bar and rebound back to play.
Niclau Borges opened the score-line for Fatorda with a placement shot off Vincent Barbosa’s assist in the seventh minute.
In the second half, Fatorda further inflated the lead through John Araujo’s curler off Vincent’s connect in the 46th minute.
As the match progressed, in the 51st minute Jerson Cardozo netted the third for Fatorda.
Pernem strikers tried to convert in the last few minutes of the match but Fatorda’s Vincent Barbosa defended well and blocked all strikes of Pernem in scoring any goals.
Fatorda Veterans will now meet the winners of Tiswadi Veterans and Davorlim Veterans in the quarter-finals on March 17.
