MURIDA-FATORDA:Fatorda Veterans blanked Rachol Veterans 3-0 to move into the final of the Fatorda Veterans football tournament, at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Murida-Fatorda, on Thursday.
Fatorda midfielder Niclau Borges was the star of the match as he netted a brace for his team.
Niclau had the first chance of the game in the first minute when he was on goal but his effort hit the side netting.
In the fifth minute, Niclau finally broke the deadlock when Francis Andrade played a perfect pass to the former, who curled a brilliant shot which crashed into the net giving no chance to the rival custodian, 1-0.
As the game progressed, Fatorda goalkeeper Camilo Barretto came with a brilliant save to deny Rachol’s Daniel Colaco.
Fatorda should have netted three more goals through Mahesh Kambli, Vincent Barbosa and Remmy Barreto but the Rachol keeper Francis Dias did a commendable job under the bar to deny them all.
It was Niclau once again scoring the team’s second goal with a simple finish, 2-0. The winners led 2-0 at the breather.
Fatorda scored their third in the dying minutes of the game through Robin Pinheoro. Fatorda will meet Curtorim in the final on June 2.
