FATORDA: FC Bardez edged past Churchill Brothers 2-1 in the Goa Football Association’s U-20 Taca League match played at the Artificial turf, Fatorda, on Thursday.
Dalon Gama had a good chance to get FC Bardez ahead on the scoreboard but Churchill Brothers keeper Clarence Furtado dealt well with the attack.
Further on Churchill Brothers keeper made yet another save from Royston Coutinho’s shot as he parried away his shot to safety.
Bardez continued to show their dominance in the match, making various attacking moves and troubling the Churchill Brothers backline.
Danstan Fernandes, however, managed to break the deadlock in the 33rd minute after he shot the ball in the top left corner leaving Clarence Barretto with absolutely no chance to save the shot. Churchill Brothers couldn’t do anything against the strong FC Bardez defence, as their attacks were fizzled out even before any damage could be done.

Post resumption Churchill Brothers looked revitalized as they restored parity within nine minutes into the second half of the match after Joel Baretto calmly shot the ball past FC Bardez goalie Swizel Pereira.
In the 73rd minute, however, FC Bardez netted their second goal after Dawson Fernandes guided the ball into the net after Royston Coutinho had a wayward shot at goal.
Moment’s later FC Bardez medio had yet another chance to net yet another one but the latter shot the ball way over the crossbar.
