MAPUSA: Football Club de Bardez came from behind to rescue a point as they held Vasco Sports Club to a high-scoring 3-3 draw in the Goa Professional League match, organised by Goa Football Association, played at Duler Stadium, on Monday.
With a point earned from the match, Bardez have 15 points from nine outings, while Vasco have nine points from 10 matches.
Vasco were in the poor form as they were without any win from last three matches. Their recent defeat was against Dempo SC in the last match, whereas, Bardez were unbeaten in the last five matches, where they recently eased past Corps of Signals in the last match.
Bardez coach Armando Colaco made only one change from the last match as Micky Vaz replaced Danston Fernandes in the starting XI, while Micky Fernandes, Flan Gomes and Daryl Endro made the comeback for the Port Towners.
FC Bardez had chance in the 7th minute when Kirtikesh Gadekar was set by Jessel in the box but keeper Amit Biswas surged ahead to clear the danger.
Micky put Vasco in the lead in the 25th minute when he made no mistake to shoot past keeper Aliston from the spot after his teammate Anil Gaoncar was brought down in the box by rival defender Gaurav Vaigankar.
Bardez came up with a series of attacks in dying minutes of the first session and finally managed to make it all square with just a few seconds left to the half-time as Jessel’s curling free-kick from just outside the box was headed in by Krishnanath Shirodkar to make it 1-1 for the Pink Brigade.
After changing the ends, Vasco took just four minutes to restore their lead as this time it was Bardez keeper Aliston who failed to collect Micky’s cross, taking advantage of the same Guinean midfielder Vasseba Toure put the loose ball in the net to make it 2-1 for the Port Towners.
At the hour mark, Vasco skipper Schubert scored the third goal for his side as he brilliantly cut past keeper Aliston after receiving a perfect through pass from Micky in the box.
Seven minutes later, Bardez reduced the margin through Jessel as he nicely curled the ball home from the 20 yards free-kick, making 2-3 for the Pink Brigade, while Shubham Rao Desai smartly headed between the keeper and defenders with just five minutes left to the full-time whistle to confirm at least a point from the match.
