FC Goa hold Geno FC 1-1

MAPUSA: FC Goa came back from a goal down to hold Geno FC to a 1-1 draw in the GFA’s Goa Professional League held at Duler stadium, here, on Sunday.

Both the goals were scored in the second session of play.

Abelson Jachi opened the account for Geno colts while Leewan Castanha levelled terms for FC Goa.

FC Goa dictated terms in the first session where they time and again attacked the rival citadel but the strikers failed to deliver the goods in the first session.

At the other end Geno FC unit playing their second league match had just one look at the rival goal where a 30-yard free-kick by skipper Minesh Kunkolkar sailed just over the cross bar.

Early in the match Young Gaurs saw Lemmet Tangvah header and a minute later a scorching right footer from inside the 18-yard box travelled out.

Minutes later Malsawmtluanga strike hit Geno defender for a corner.

On crossing ends Geno colts were a complete transformed unit which kept the opposition on their back foot.

In the very third minute Young Gaurs goalkeeper Micky Dias left his charge to clear the ball before Saideep Pomburphekar could connect it home.

Finally in the 75th minute Geno colts sent their supporters into raptures when Abelson Jachi gave finishing touches to Priyanshu cross, 1-0.

Stung by the reverse Young Gaurs Malsawmtluanga free kick saw Likson Rebello header being collected by Geno’s custodian Akshat Hadkonkar

When it looked it was curtain down, Young Gaurs levelled terms in the 90th minute when their skipper Leewan Castanha fired in the equalizer by guiding Akash Oraow cross into the nets, 1-1.

Geno’s Abelson Jachi received the man-of-the-match award from the hands of Capt. Gerald Fernandes.
