FC Goa hold Pilerne SC, UB Ambaulim outplay Benfica FC

MAPUSA/RAIA: FC Goa managed to hold 10-man Pilerne Sports Club 1-1 in the GFA Division II League (Play-Off) match played at PVC ground, Parra, on Friday.

In the 25th minute, Pilerne Sports Club playmaker Royston Pereira sent a brilliant through pass to Chandan Govekar, who dribbled two rival defenders and scored, 1-0.

Pilerne Sports Club received a jolt five minutes later with the sending off Sainesh Goankar for bring dangerous challenge on rival player by Match Referee Tejas Nagvekar. In the 47 minute young Gaurs level terms.

Sangam Shetye crossed the ball from the right flank to Cain Fernandes in the 18-yard box to place the ball into the far corner of the goal, 1-1.

On crossing over, young Gaurs time and again attack the rival citadel but Cain, Sangam, Saideep Tate and Shaun Fernandes efforts were saved by Pilerne Sports Club goalkeeper Kurpesh.

UB Ambaulim outplayed Benfica FC 7-2 in the GFA Division II League Play-Off League match played at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Friday. 

In the first session, UB Ambaulim were leading 2-1. Alex Fernandes scored a brace for UB Ambaulim in the 18th and 45+4 minute of the game, while Muktiar Shaikh scored in 45+3 minute of the game for Benfica FC. 

In second session, Alex Fernandes completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute of play, while Reston Simoes scored a brace in the 62nd and 72th minute. Then Sowell Fernandes and Christovan Cardozo also added their names on the score-sheet for UB Ambaulim. 

Jonathan D’Costa pulled one goal back in the 80th minute for Benfica FC.
