PANJIM: A four-goal blitz by Stessi Cardozo helped FC Goa fire seven goals past Goa United Sports Academy in the Goa Football Association Vedanta Women’s League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.
The winners led 2-0 at the break as Stessi opened the scoring in the 11th minute and then added the second in the 30th minute.
Stessi completed her hat-trick in the 51st minute. Joizima Fernandes added two more goals scoring in the 74th and 81st minute before Stessi added yet another to her name.
Second half substitute Sujata Shetty netted the seventh in the 90+3 minutes.
Milton Fernandes, Director Physical Education, Goa University presented the player of the match award to Stessi Cardozo.
Meanwhile in the second match of the day, Nevilla Colaco scored the only goal of the game as Sirvodem Sports Club defeated Futebol Club YFA 1-0 at Rosary ground, Navelim. The lone goal was scored in the fourth minute.
Nevilla was named as the player of the match. Costancio Paulo Rodrigues, president of Goa Football Referees Association gave the player of the match award to Nevilla.
The second leg of Vedanta Women’s League will begin from March 17 and the draw will be held on March 15 at 3 p.m at GFA Secretariat. The Association has requested the mangers of the teams to participate int he draw.
