FC Goa register easy win over Salgaocar

UTORDA: FC Goa blanked Salgaocar FC 2-0 in the All India Football Federation’s U-18 Youth League match, played at SAG ground, Utorda on Tuesday. 
FC Goa, who were dominant from the start enjoyed the share of the exchanges and it was Salgaocar FC who sounded the warning in the second minute when attacking midfielder Ribhav Sardessai unleashed a long range which narrowly missed the target.
At the other hand, FC Goa did not lag behind as they came close in forging ahead but Joybert Almeida’s was thwarted by the rival defender in the 4th minute. FC Goa breakthrough came in the 14th minute when midfielder Precio Croydon D’Souza’s well executed free-kick was headed home by defender Rayan Roger Menezes giving no chance to the Salgaocar FC goalkeeper Utarkash Desmukh. 
Stung by that setback, Salgaocar FC regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and in the 18th minute striker Fhezer Gomes failed to score an open goal.
Unfazed, FC Goa went into attacking mode and in the 32nd minute Brison Fernandes free-kick went wide.
Crossing over, Salgaocar FC forwards showed the urgency and substitute Arron Baretto was foiled by rival defender with neat tackle.
FC Goa could have added one more goal but Joybert Almeida’s blistering shot was well foiled by the rival defender in the 50th minute. 
Again FC Goa were unlucky when Joybert Almeida shot blew over the cross bar in the 81stminute. 
FC Goa were denied by the post when Joybert Almeida’s rasping shot kissed the post. 
FC Goa sealed the rival fate in the 89th minute when substitute Doyal Alves slotted past the rival goalkeeper to troop out worthy winners.
