FC Goa score thrice for three points

PANJIM: FC Goa scored a fluent 3-1 win over Calangute Association in the Goa Professional League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.

 Brison Fernandes put FC Goa ahead in the first half however they were dealt with an Hansel Coelho own goal in the 48th minute which made the scores level. Later, FC Goa scored through Aditya Salgaonkar and Vasim Inamdar scored a goal each in the 71st And 79th minutes respectively to maintain their unbeaten run in the league.

FC Goa attacked from the first whistle and deservingly took the lead in the 17th minute when Mevan Dias made a run in the area and set up a cut back pass to Brison Fernandes, who smashed in to put his side ahead.

In the 21st minute, Calangute Association had an opportunity to restore parity when Ganesh Thakur managed to find Chaitan Dabholkar in the area however, having a best chance of the game so far for the Beach side boys, the lad shot wide. Then Jesloy Moniz created a scare when he dispossessed Manushawn Fernandes but Brison made a good interception.

Crossing over, Calangute found themselves back in the game when Hansel Coelho made a howler in dealing with a back pass. With the scores level, Calangute had a chance to take the lead in the 52nd minute when Ganesh set up Jesloy and the latter failed to keep his composure infront of the goal.

FC Goa regained their lead in the 71st minute when Brison played a square pass to Aditya Salgaonkar, and the latter shot from inside the box, hit the post and the keeper and entered the goal.

FC Goa made it 3-1 through Vasim Inamdar to seal all three points for the young Gaurs.

GFA U-20 TACA Goa league

Dempo Sports Club scored two goals in as many minutes to down Salgaocar FC in the GFA U-20 Taca Goa League at Ella ground, on Thursday.

There was no goals at the break. Both goals came in the second half in the 67th and 69th minutes. laximanrao Rane and Shreyesh Naik scored for the Golden Eagles to secure full points.
