MARGAO: FC Mugalli (B) defeated Red Bulls, Igerwaddo 4-3 via the tie-breaker to move into the pre-quarterfinals of the FC Mugalli Areal inter-ward football tournament organized by FC Mugalli at Fernandes ground, on Sunday.
In both the sessions, the teams failed to open an account.
In the resultant tie-breaker, FC Mugalli (B) were on target through Christo Fernandes, Meclon Fernandes, Jose Hortao and Seby Faleiro while Red Bulls netted through Brian Fernandes, Denzy Fernandes and Elvis D’Sa.
In another match, United Boys, Nessai edged past Warriors of Igerwaddo 5-4 via the tie-breaker.
In the first half, Warriors of Igerwado opened the account through Walmex Fernandes in the 10th minute. Immediately, United Boys of Nessai equalised through Prinson Dias in the 12th minute.
Crossing over, Vishal Fernandes made it 2-1 for Warriors of Igerwado in the 46th minute while Mario Barretto equalized 2-2 for United Boys of Nessai in the 48th minute.
In the resultant tie-breaker, United Boys of Nessai scored through Prinson Dias, Mario Barretto and Hasten Dias while Warriors of Igerwaddo were on target through Vishal Fernandes and Josly Fernandes.
On Saturday, Hosts FC Mugalli got the better of Holy Cross, Menezes Bhatt 3-1 to enter the pre-quarter final.
For FC Mugalli, Neville Fernandes scored brace, Jeston one goal while Laxman Thapa netted the lone goal.
