MAPUSA: FC Sanquelim had an easy outing as they trounced Sirsaim SWC by 6-2 margin in the GFA’s Division II League Bardez Zone match played at Quitula ground, on Friday.
It was Sirsaim SWC outfit that stunned their opponents with Saniel Oliveira scoring in the very 5th minute from a goalmouth melee 1-0.
However, FC Sanquelim colts not only equalised but saw Saidatt Hanjunkar net a brace before the breather, 2-1.
On crossing over, Vicky Gawas, Jimmy John, Ismail Savnoor and Tejas Kukalkar scored four more goals.
Maxwell D’Souza scored the second goal for Sirsaim SWC, 6-2.
At Moira ground, Laxmi Prasad SC managed to edge past Sodiem Siolim SSCA by 2-1 margin.
Malikarjun Sonsar and Sumit Chopdekar scored for the winners, while Maharsh Sawant netted a consolation goal in the 90th minute of play for Sodiem Siolim SSCA.
At Mandrem panchayat ground, Peddem Bomm SC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bhumika SCC.
Bhumika SCC looked the stronger side early on and capitalized on their dominance when Pranesh Asvenkar struck in the 40th minute, giving his team a crucial lead heading into halftime. The goal was a result of sustained pressure, with Asvenkar finishing off a well-worked move to put Bhumika in control.
However, Peddem Bomm SC came out with renewed vigor in the second half. Akshay V brought them back into the game, smashing home an equalizer in the 57th minute. The momentum had clearly shifted, and Peddem Bomm SC didn’t take long to capitalise. Just moments later, Pedro Gonsalves found the back of the net, turning the game on its head and giving Peddem a 2-1 lead.
Bhumika pushed hard for an equaliser, but Peddem Bomm SC’s defense held firm and sealed a 2-1 victory.
