KAKODA: FC Siolim thumped Ambelim Sports Club 5-1 to clinch the 22nd Holy Cross Trophy, at Vodlemoll-Kakoda ground, on Saturday.
Ambelim SC took the lead in the 2nd minute through Nial Cardozo’s splendid shot, however, Siddhant Shirodkar equalised for FC Siolim in the 23rd minute with a snap shot.
FC Siolim took the lead in the 28th minute through Siddhant Shirodkar as they went into the breather with a 2-1 lead.
Post resumption, Siddhant Shirodkar completed his hat-trick by scoring another goal in the 48th minute. FC Siolim continued their rout as Dalesh Pednekar and Pushparaj Mandrekar scored a goal each for in the 68th and 70th minutes respectively to take home the trophy.
The winners were richer by Rs 1,11,111 while the runners-up received Rs 77,777 plus trophies.
Chief guest Chairperson of CCMC Felix Fernandes gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Rowllin Borges, Alson Fernandes, Briven Gonsalves, Julius D’Costa, club officials and other dignitaries.
