CALANGUTE: Football Club of Siolim scored a hard fought solitary goal victory over Candolim Sports Club to book their place in the semi-finals of Saligao United Cup Soccer organized by Saligao United, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, Monday.
The teams played attacking football in the initial stages, creating several opening at either ends.
However, their strikers failed to find any openings and score before the lemon break.
After failing to score at half time, Mayur Toraskar put FC Siolim ahead in the 40th minute with a clinical strike that did not give any chance to the rival goalkeeper.
Stung by the reverse, Candolim backed by local support went all out in search of the equalizer but a goal eluded them.
Siolim too came close to scoring on a couple of occasions but their forwards failed to find the net.
Football Club of Siolim will take on St Savio Sports Club, Calangute in the semi-final.
