FC Tuem down Cana Benaulim

MAPUSA: Football club Tuem registered a 3-0 win over Cana Benaulim Sporting Association in the GFA Vedanta Women’s Football League, held at Duler stadium, here, on Tuesday.

Tuem eves forged ahead in the 12th minute when Joizima Fernandes collecting a through pass from Flani Costa beat the onrushing Cana Benaulim keeper Sharufa Fernandes with a neat placement,1-0.

As the match progressed, Tuem’s Karen Estrocio and Merecia Tavares goal bound strikes were pushed for the corner by goalkeeper Sharufa Fernandes.

Cana Benaulim eve Vanisha Vaz tried to make her way inside the rival penalty box but saw Tuem’s stopper back Jessel Mascarenhas clear the ball to safety.

On resumption of play, Tuem eves scored their second goal through their star striker Karen Estrocio who nodded the ball into the goal from a pinpoint cross by Merecia Tavares from the left flank, 2-0.

In the last quarter of the match, Tuem eves pinned their opponents inside their own territory but it was brave goalkeeping from Sharufa Fernandes who denied Namita Govekar thrice and Karen Estrocio from close quarters.

The keeper could do very little to stop Namita Govekar nod the ball into the goal in the 91st minute off a long ball from medio Fani Costa to make it 3-0.

Tuem’s Flani Costa was rightly awarded player of the match trophy from the hands of Viola Fernandes.

At Sirsaim grounds: Sesa FA also defeated Sinquerim SC by 3-0 margin.
