MAPUSA: Football Club of Tuem drubbed SAG Football Academy, Gujarat, 6-1 to emerge champions in the Indian Women League Fixture 2 Group C final round match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Saturday.
Though both teams had already qualified for the final round, FC Tuem topped the standings position with 12 points, while SAG Football Academy finished at second spot with 9 points.
FC Tuem eves started on a promising note with Pearl Fernandes in the very 6th minute collecting a long floater from medio Laxmi Tamang and darting inside the penalty box to slot the ball into the goal 1-0.
It did not take long for FC Tuem eves to further increase their lead when in the 28th minute Pushpa Parab made it 2-0 after Pearl had done the spadework.
On crossing over, Laxmi netted a brace scoring two brilliant goals in the 47th and 56th minute. Substitute Aniela Barretto netted the fifth goal with Pushpa completing the rout 6-0.
Never say die spirit saw SAG FA eves Shanti Odedara score the consolation goal in the added time, 6-1.
In the morning match, Khad Football Club had an easy outing as they defeated City Bahadurgarh FC by 3-0 margin.
Manju Devi netted a brace with Shital Sahani adding her name to the scorers’ list. At the prize distribution ceremony, Goa Football Association President Dr Caitano Fernandes presented the winners’ trophy to FC Tuem, while GFA’s Senior Vice President Anthony Pango presented the runners-up trophy to SAG Football Academy.
Also present was GFA’s Executive Committee member Uday Lingudkar and Rocky Mamol.
