PANJIM: FC Tuem scored a thrilling 2-1 win over Saligao United in the Goa Football Association Third Division League Bardez zone play-off to earn their promotion to GFA Div II, at Monte de Guirim ground, on Sunday.
Starting the match on attacking note, FC Tuem took the lead in the 10th minute through their inform striker Sweton Rebello. Once up by a goal, they totally controlled the game and restricted the play to midfield battle.
The teams walked into the breather with Tuem having an advantage.
In the second half, Saligao United put up a strong fight and managed to come back in the game with Bavesh Pereira scoring yet again for the side. The goal came in the 76th minute.
In the final quarter of the game, both sides added extra men to their attack and it was an end to end battle. Finally it was Tuem who scored the match-winner in the 80th minute through Maxwell Furtado. Saligao United pressed hard in search of the equalizer, but the goal eluded them.
Saligao’s Sheldon Rodrigues received a red card at the end of the game.
