MAPUSA: Football Club of Tuem proved to be too good for Sinquerim SC as they drubbed them by a 14-0 margin in the 7th GFA Vedanta Women’s League held at Duler Stadium, here, on Friday.
After today’s match FC Tuem have six points while Sinquerim playing their first match are yet to open their account. It was one-way traffic for FC Tuem unit that went into the breather with a six goal cushion. Most of the damage was done by today’s player of the match awardee Karen Estrocio who scored nine goals, with Somaaya Mukundan, Namita Govekar (2) and Aniela Barretto (2), adding their names to the scorers list.
Once Somaaya Mukundan opened the floodgates for her team in the very 2nd minute from the spadework done by Namita Govekar, the Tuem unit scored time and again.
FC Tuem colts comprised mostly players of last year’s winners Churchill Brothers (who did not field their team this season) and Tuem unit having a number of National players saw their opponents, girls mostly from the GFDC Poire and Mayem center no match in today’s one sided encounter.
However, the parents, supporters and teammates who travelled all the way from Sinquerim were seen cheering their players and shook hands after the match for giving in their best against a strong unit.
