PANJIM: The final spots in the Super and the Elite Group have been finalised in the 5th Dr Filipe Pinto Memorial All Goa Table Tennis tournament organised by former Corporation of the City of Panaji deputy mayor Kabir Pinto Makhija in association with Clube Vasco da Gama, at the club premises, on Saturday.
In the semi-finals of Super Group, John Xavier and Vikas Prabhu outplayed Raj Lotlikar and Mohammed Mazar Shaikh 3-2 while Prashant Kamat and Hemant Ramani defeated Dr Brennan Tavares and Peter Cordeiro 3-0.
In the Elite Group, Yusuf Shaikh and Rajendra Naik outplayed Sachin Soares and Rajendra Parsekar 3-1 while Amit Naik and Xisto Fernandes beat Joseph Sequeira and Sanjot Sankalp 3-1.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Saligao MLA Kedar Naik in the presence of Ajit Roy, IAS, and Secretary to the Chief Minister; Xacuntala Pinto Makhija, Kabir Pinto Makhija, Soraya Pinto Makhija, Francisco Noronha, Christopher Menezes, Chaitanya Tarcar and Carlos Noronha.
