On Wednesday night at the Nehru Stadium the electrifying situation was no different as faithful FC Goa fans backed their team right from the kick-off till the final whistle.
Big name clubs around the World have spent huge amounts in building their fan base but in Goa, it is different which speaks volumes of the passion in the State which has gone a step further to make football their official sport recently.
The fans off the field have done in all to support their team, from painting their vehicles, decorating their homes with FC Goa colours of orange and yellow in support of their favourite team.
The fans, which included young and old, thronged the Stadium hours before the scheduled kick-off to get a glimpse of their stars warming up.
Some even showed up at the training schedules at Tilak Maidan, Vasco.
Keeping them in high spirits is Guardinho, the official mascot of FC Goa which is a one of its kind initiative by a Facebook group, The Football Dug Out.
Guardinho worked tirelessly with rounds around the stadium which has made him a fan favourite as everyone strives to get a selfie or groupfie.
The 19,438 crowd was silenced when NorthEast United FC’s substitute Victor Mendy broke the deadlock in the 55th minute.
However, the drums kept rolling along with the vociferous slogans in the stands and finally, the fans saw the equalizer in the final minutes through a Reinaldo pile driver which set the stadium up in raptures.
The team has faced 0-4 defeats on two occasions but still what keeps FC Goa going is their fans, who never give up.
