Four-Star Alvito helps SAO Jose de Areal trounce SC Davorlim

Scores all-four goals in his team’s 4-1 win over their rivals in quarters

PANJIM: Sao Jose de Areal defeated SC of Davorlim 4-1 to move to the last four in the Third Division League organised by Goa Football Association, at the Artificial Turf, Fatorda on Wednesday.
Kicking of proceedings Sao Jose de Areal had a chance to take the lead in the 3rd minute of the game but Alvito Morra’s strike went way past the post.
The Areal players kept pressuring the Davorlim defense from the start.
But it was SC of Davorlim who took the lead in the 6th minute of the game with a fine header by Mark Borges making it 1-0.
In the 15th minute, Alvito Morra of Sao Jose de Areal levelled the scores with a well placed shot past the rival keeper. Aeaison Olivera of Areal SC missed out a strike as his run was cut short by the rival keeper in the 20th minute.
With the score levelled, both teams tried hard to break the tie as Alviton Silva’s shot went straight to the Davorlim keeper.
Switching sides Mario Baretto of Sao Jose de Areal eased pass two defenders and placed a perfect pass to Alvito Morra who then netted it in swiftly in the 53rd minute making it 2-1.
From then on, Alvito kept pressing hard onto the Davorlim defence with support from David Colaco and Aggio Antao. Minutes later, Alvito Morra made no mistake as he scored his hat trick in the 70th minute with a fine shot in the bottom right of the nets.
With things in favor of Sao Jose de Areal, the Davorlim boys seemed to have lost the momentum as their defence was made to drop low on numerous attempts in the second half.
Five minutes later, Alvito added another goal taking his tally to four for the day. Aggio Antao could have got his name on to the score sheet but his curved shot hit the side post in the 90th minute.
