Fr. Agnel shot into the lead in the 10th minute of the second half through mercurial player Viery Colaco, who was later adjudged the player of the tournament. Our Lady of Snows High School came back strongly and found the equalizer in the dying minute off a goal mouth melee.
Earlier, the teams entered the ground to the sound of music and fireworks and were introduced to the dignitaries Head Coach Salgaocar FC Derrick Pereira, ex-National athlete and former Director of Directorate Sports and Youth Affairs Dr Suzan D Souza, VP Chicalim Sarpanch Ruby Rodrigues, Arjuna Awardee and Administrator Sesa Football Academy Brahamanada Shankhawalkar.
The following prizes were given: Best defender Gareth Baretto (Kings School, Margao), best goalkeeper Jose Pereira (Fr Agnel, Verna), best striker Viery Colaco (Fr Agnel, Verna) and best midfielder Javen D’Souza (St Britto, Mapusa).
St. Thomas High School, Cansaulim were awarded the Mormugao Zone winners trophy and St Andrew’s ICSE School, Vasco the runners-up trophy by Dr Suzan.
Margareth Fernandes, wife of late Baptist, who was present along with her children presented the rolling trophy to Fr Agnel Multipurpose High School.
In the exhibition match played between Mormugao Veterans and Bardez Veterans, which saw galaxy of yesteryears footballers like Fausto, Jude, David, Derrick, Agostinho, Nelson, Vishant amongst, were locked 1-1 at full time.
Sportspersons from Mormugao taluka and surrounding areas namely Luis Alvares, Nelson Landez, Aaron Rodrigues, Peter Vales, Xisto Paes, P. M. Bhorgave, Sudesh Lujekar, Bharat Lokapure, Pandu Chalwadi, Raymond Carvalho, Agostinho D Costa, David da Souza, Jude Fernandes, Shadizad Khan, Fr Benjamin Victoria, Sudhakar Naik, Maria Rebello, Elizabeth Luis, Inacio, Tiago Fernandes, Lawrence Gomes, Maymol Rocky, Laxmikant Kattimani, Succorina D’Costa were felicitated by Brahmananda, Dr Suzan, Derrick and Ruby.
Earlier, M. M. Muthawali, organising secretary welcomed while Francisco Nunes proposed the vote of thanks.
