CURCHOREM: Fr Agnel Polytechnic, Verna (FAPV) clinched the badminton title after defeating Fr. Agnel Institute of Food Craft and Catering Science, Verna (AIFCCS) 11-7 and 11-5 in the two-day badminton tournament, organised by Inter-Diploma Sports (IDS) under the guidance of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), at Peddem Sports Complex, recently.
Earlier in the boys category, Dhanraj Shetkar of FAPV won the game by defeating Shawn D’Costa of Guardian Angel Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (GAIHMCT), Curchorem by 21-15 and 21-15 points and in the second game Sidhant Naik of FAPV won against Projot Pol of GAIHMCT by 21-15 and 21-13 points.
APV’s Upeksha Baadkar defeated AIFCCS’s Flency Cardozo by 11-6 points and 11-6 points and AIFCCS’s Shwena Shirodkar prevailed against APV’s Anisha Paiginkar by 11-4 and 11-4 points.
In the individual boys category, FAPV’s Dhanraj Shetkar won the gold medal by defeating his batch-mate Sidhant Naik while Shwena Shirodkar of AIFCCS secured the gold medal by defeating GAIHMCT’s Libania Fernandes.
The prizes were distributed by IDS Managers Antony Nunes and Guilermo Da Gama in the presence of match officials Valmiki Cardozo, Andrich Fernandes and Ian D’Souza.
