RAIA: Fr. Agnelo YSC of Paroda defeated Parish Youth of Nuvem by solitary goal to emerge champions in Agasaim Cup football tournament at Agasaim ground, on Sunday.
Fr. Agnelo dominated in the first 20 minutes, with Selvin Fernandes missing scoring chances. Nuvem also had a chance to score but Meislein Barreto missed from the close range.
Fr Agnelo scored the all-important goal in the 69th minute from a free kick from substitute Denzil Vaz.
Fr Agnelo won Rs 40,000. P Y Nuvem had to be content with Rs 30,000 besides trophies.
Following prizes were awarded: Best goalkeeper – Rasal Fernandes (Fr. Agnelo YSC). Best defender – Selvin Fernandes (Fr. Agnelo YSC). Best midfielder – Velroy Carvalho (Fr. Agnelo YSC). Best striker – Likson Rebello (Fr. Agnelo YSC), Man-of-the final – Dravid Fernandes (Fr. Agnelo YSC). Player-of- the tournament – Selton Fernandes (Fr. Agnelo YSC).
Sister Alvita Gurjao was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of Camilo Gonsalves and Juliano Gurjao Colaco,Ʋ. Frederic Rodrigues and several others.
