Bardez Veterans beat Davondem
PANJIM: Bardez Veterans defeated Davondem Veterans 6-5 via the tie-breaker to sail into the semi-finals of the 6th all-Goa Panjim veterans football tournament, at Taleigao ground, on Wednesday.
Both the teams were locked in a goalless draw at full time.
In the resultant tie-breaker Lourence, Miskin, Anand, Ramesh, Caitan and Rafiq scored for Bardez Veterans while Luis, Abit, Alfred, Xavier and Vincent scored for Davondem Veterans.
St Anthony’s SC win
NERUL: St Anthony’s SC Siolim blanked CDJ Ribandar 3-0 to move into the final of the Nerul Panchayat Soccer organised by Nerul Sports Club, at Nerul ground, on Wednesday.
St Anthony’s SC scored the first goal in the 24th minute through Sherwin Lobo’s glancing header.
Pushparaj Mandrekar made it 2-0 while Sherwin Lobo made it 3-0 for St Anthony’s Marna SC in the second half.
SC Davorlim advance
VELIM: SC Davorlim defeated St Anthony SC, Assolda 4-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Velim Panchayat Cup organised by Sports and Welfare Club of Zaino-Velim, at St Francis Xavier Church ground, Velim, on Wednesday.
Robinson Colaco netted a brace for Davorlim in the 20th and 44th minutes respectively while Valmiki Miranda and Lasser Raikar netted a goal each for Davorlim in the 22nd and 47th minutes respectively.
St Anthony SC’s Moses D’Sa netted a brace to reduce the margin.
Goan Warriors edge past Parra
CALANGUTE: Goan Warriors Sports Club, Assnora managed to edge past PVC Parra Sports Club 2-1 in the inaugural match of the Calangute Panchayat Soccer Cup, organised by Calangute Association, at Poriat ground, on Wednesday.
Goan Warriors went into the breather with a two goals cushion.
In the 15th minute Parra colts had the first good attempt at the rival goal but a fierce strike by Ashton Fernandes was blocked by Assnora keeper Aaron Gonsalves but overlapping Savio Vaz was late to connect the rebound.
While Parra failed to score, at the other end a curling corner by Kunal Salgaonkar was headed into the goal by Projot Arabekar making it 1-0 for Goan Warriors.
A couple of minutes before the breather and Goan Warriors netted their second goal through and intelligent lob by Milind Shinde over the advancing Parra keeper Fidelis making it 2-0.
On crossing over Parra colts pressed hard to get back into the match but managed to only reduce the margin as Atish Mirajkar getting hold of a through pass scored with a neat placement, 2-1.
Candolim sail into final
CANDOLIM: Candolim Sports Club registered a 2-1 win over St Savio Sports Club, Calangute to sail into the final of the Lakanpal Novino Soccer Cup played at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Wednesday.
St Savio’s took the lead in the 19th minute wherein Dominic Fernandes latched a free-kick which crashed into the goal beating rival keeper Krupesh Bandokar making it 1-0.
In the very next minute, Candolim equalised with a power-packed strike from Bhavesh Candolkar which sailed past the rival keeper Selwyn D’Souza making it 1-1.
Crossing over, Sanket Jotkar put Candolim ahead as he tapped the ball into the goal off a cross by Nehal Naik to make it 2-1 in the 42nd minute.
Calangute had a glorious chance to level terms in the 50th minute but Runaal Shirodkar’s shot sailed just over the horizontal bar. Candolim will take on Saligao Sporting in the final.
Mashem CC advance
MASHEM: Mashem Cricket Club defeated Youth Boys of Canacona by 107 runs in the Canacona T-20 cricket tournament organised by Polem Cricket Club and played at Nirakar ground, Mashem, on Wednesday.
In another match Paiguin Multipurpose beat Maliikarjun Boys by 47 runs.
Margao beat Canacona
CHICALIM: Margao defeated Canacona by 9 wickets in the women’s limited overs cricket tournament organised by Bharatiya Stree Shakti, at SAG ground, Chicalim, on Wednesday.
In another match, Metorites defeated Phonda by 87 runs.
