MAPUSA, MARCH 9
A brace in the last 13 minutes from Premnath Gadekar allowed Laxmi Prasad to battle their way past Saligao United 2-1 in GFA’s Second Division on Wednesday. The match was goalless at the breather.
A strategic half time substitution from Laxmi Prasad which involved Preminath moving from midfield into the forward line, paid dividends as he finished both goals clinically.
Saligao pulled back an impressive consolation goal in the last minute through Vijay Parsekar.
Laxmi finished the first half strongly, which saw Jolious D’Costa hitting the crossbar with a shot from a distance. Defender James Soares saved Saligao with a last ditch tackle to deny Mosin in injury time.
In the 77th minute, Laxmi Prasad caught Saligao on the break, and moved the ball down swiftly down the field. Joelif Simoes layed the ball on for Preminath and he rounded the goalkeeper to score.
Three minutes later, Preminath did well to stay on this side after receiving a pass from Jolious and he delightfully chipped over the rival custodian to double Laxmi’s lead.
In the 90th minute, Saligao’s substitute Vijay Parsekar swung in a corner from the left side, which clattered the cross bar and came off a defender on its way into the back of the net.
