PANJIM: Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias in association with Gadre Group and Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) will organise their third edition of Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2018 from January 26 to February 4 at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar.
Matches will be held between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.
This year the tournament has included more categories and has raised the prize amount to encourage tennis fraternity across the state to participate.
The tournament includes fourteen categories – Under 12 (girls and boys), Under 16 (girls and boys), Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles. Men’s Veteran Singles 45+, Men’s Veteran Singles 55+, Men’s Veteran Singles 60+, those above the age of 35 can participate in the Men’s Veteran Doubles 90+ (Combined age), Men’s Veteran Doubles 110 + (Combined age) and Men’s Veteran Doubles 120+ (Combined age).
Rajesh Khaunte, president of Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias while speaking to the press said that the clube has a legacy spanning over 80 years of promoting a healthy sport environment to the residents of Goa. This annual tournament is an opportunity to showcase the tennis skills of Goa’s youth.”
Sunil Naik, secretary of the Clube added, “It is great to see the number of tennis enthusiast in Goa. We would not be able to host this tournament if it wasn’t for our title sponsors.”
Aakash Khaunte, Chairman of Clube Sports Committee, said, “We are very pleased to introduce four more categories and raised the prize amount to encourage more tennis enthusiasts to participate in this sport and showcase the talent amongst Goans”
Nathan Chowgule, President, Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) added, “Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias is doing a phenomenal job hosting this tournament annually. I really believe that such kind of tournaments encourage children to take up tennis as a career.”
Arjun Gadre, Owner, Gadre Groups said, “this year we are trying to encourage more citizens to participate in the tournament. Hence, we have included more categories this year in comparison to last year.”
