MAPUSA: Garhwal United FC, Delhi proved too good as they trounced Sreebhumi FC, Bengal, by 4-1 margin in the Indian Women’s League 2 Division-final round, held at Duler stadium, here, on Wednesday.
Both the teams came in today’s match with a win from their first league match.
Garhwal United’s Oinam Devi came with three fierce strikes at the rival goal but Sreebhumi FC custodian Jyotsna Bara brought smart saves.
After the half an hour mark, Sreebhumi pinned their opponents inside their own territory but Sujata Mahata was late to connect Saraswati cross in front of the goal.
In the 40th minute Garhwal”s Lhingneilam Kipgen handled the ball inside the penalty box where referee Rachana Kumani pointed to the dreaded spot. However skipper Mousumi Mormu spot kick was saved by Garhwal custodian Ribansi Jamu.
Another close attempt by Kabita Saren hit Garhwal defender for corner.
In the added time a 25-yard rasping shot by Fragrancy Riwan crashed into the back of the Sreebhumi nylons, 1-0.
On crossing over Garhwal eves pinned their opponents inside their own territory and scored three more goals.
Monisha Singha who came from the bench netted two brilliant goals with substitute Esther Tingjoukim sealing the victory with a superb 25-yard free-kick.
Sreebhumi pulled a goal through Kabita Saren to make it 4-1.
In the morning match, Nita Football Academy, Odisha edged past Pudhuvai Unicorn, Pondicherry, by 2-1 margin.
Keerthana M opened the account for Pudhuvai in the 8th minute, while on crossing over Babita Kumari and Roshni Tigga scored two quick goals.
