FATORDA: Gauncar HSS, Raia downed Our Lady of Succor HS, Nagoa-Verna 3-1 to move into the next round of the U-17 Suborto Mukerjee Salcette Taluka football tournament organised by DSYA, at Astroturf ground, Fatorda, on Monday.
In the 5th minute, Succour’s Ajay Doley netted the first goal of the match with a ground shot off Mervin Rebello’s assist but the joy was short lived as Calyx Miranda equalised for Gauncar with a downward header off Seldon Pereira’s assist in the 25th minute.
In the second half, Gauncar netted two more goals through Sheldon Pereira and Calyx Miranda in the 55th and 65th minutes respectively.
In the other matches of the day, St Anthony HS, Majorda blanked The Kings HSS 4-0.
Shenoy netted a brace while Aryan Dias and Leeroy Da Costa netted a goal each for St Anthony HS, Majorda.
In another match, Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda blanked St Jude HS, Betalbatim 5-0.
Beckham Dias netted a brace while Jordan Borges, Jeswel Cardozo and Valjoe Pinto netted a goal each for the winners.
The Betalbatim side tried their level best to get back into the game but they were no match for the Fatord side’s outstanding performance.
