RAIA: Gauncar HSS of Raia, Fr Basilio Andrade HSS of Majorda, Fr Agnel Multipurpose HS of Verna, Regina Martyrum HS of Assolna and Rosary HS of Navelim moved ahead in the U-17 Subroto Mukherjee Salcete Taluka football tournament.
At Cuncolim school playground, Gauncar HSS defeated Govt. Multipurpose HSS of Borda by a solitary goal scored by Aaron Simson Pereira. Fr Basilio Andrade HSS scored 4-3 tie-breaker win over Rosary HSS of Navelim after a match ended in goalless in regulation time. Fr Agnel Multipurpose HS thumped RMS HSS of Margao 6-0. Alen Fernandes scored a hat-trick followed by a goal each by Salmon Gama, Elton Fernandes and Walton Fernandes.
At Ambelim football ground, Regina Martyrum HS of Assolna blanked St Jude HS of Betalbatim 6-0. Claron Pinto scored a brace while Brac Fernandes, Tanish Simoes, Alden Crasto and Jubal Fernandes netted a goal each. Rosary HS Navelim also move ahead with comfortable 8-0 win over Auxillium HS of Benaulim. Sweedon Costa scored a hat-trick, Sam Pereira scored a brace while Rehan Malik, Manthan Salunke and Shawn Rebello scored a goal each.
In the U-17 Salcete taluka girls’ category, The King’s School of Sao Jose de Areal thrashed Carmel HSS of Nuvem 11-0 at DSYA ground Ambelim. Valaina Fernandes scored four, Neha Verlecar scored a hat-trick, brace by Siddhi Sawant and a goal each by Karen Anna D’Souza and Hayley D’Souza scored one goal each.
