PANJIM: Gaura Vaddo, Calangute registered a solitary goal win over Porba Vaddo, Calangute to clinch the Alexio Joao Menezes Memorial Cup inter-ward 9-a-side football tournament supported by Anthony Menezes & family, at Calangute Association ground.
Gaura Vaddo scored the winner in the 15th minutes of play through Prashant Matkar of a neat pass from Vijay Parsekar in the penalty box.
Porba Vaddo tried their level best to equalise but were not able to find the target. The winners and runners – up were richer by Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Chief Guest Alirio Lobo, President of Calangute Association gave away the prizes in the presence of Cyriaco Dias, Freedom Fighter, Anthony Menezes, Ex. Sarpanch of VP Calangute and other dignitaries.
