PANJIM: FC Goa scored twice late in the game to script a stunning comeback win over Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan, Vasco on Wednesday.
Igor Angulo showed his class once again scoring in the stoppage time to give FC Goa their second successive win and inflict third successive defeat upon Hyderabad.
Earlier Aridane Santana had give Hyderabad FC a 68th minute lead which was cancelled out by Ishan Pandita with an 87th minute equaliser.
Goa now seem to be back on track and there would be plenty of positives from the game for Coach Juan Ferrando, who has now shown why they are considered the most feared side in the league. You cannot write off the Gaurs till the final whistle.
The first half was more of missed chances as both sides clearly failed to convert the opportunities they had. Brandon was instrumental for Gaurs in the midfield and created two great chances through James Donachie and Angulo, but both failed to score as one didn’t connect the ball while the other failed to direct Brandon’s delivery into the frame.
In the second half, Hyderabad began the second half aggressively, taking the game to Goa. Their intent soon paid off as they opened the scoring just before the hour mark.
FC Goa conceded from nothing. Asish Rai intercepted a FC Goa pass and set up Aridane, who fired home to put his side ahead in the game.
FC Goa kept knocking and almost conceded the second but Aridane’s goal was ruled off-side.
FC Goa’s never say die attitude finally rewarded them the equaliser goal which was scored from a set piece. Ishan Pandita flicked in Edu Bedia free-kick. But there was most left to the game. For a side who are lethal upfront, you cannot give them even half chances. Hyderabad failed to hold on to their point and were soon punished.
Alberto Noguera played Angulo on goal and the striker slotted home to score his ninth of the season.
Another goal for the Spaniard and another three points for Goa.
