PANJIM: Due to increasing cases of COVID-19 across the country, the Goa Cricket Association on Wednesday had decided to call off cricketing activities.
“GCA has decided to call off U-19 Camp and Premier Division League (PDL) matches for the season 2020-21 in view of BCCI’s decision of calling off age group tournaments as there are increasing cases of Covid-19 across the country,” Goa Cricket Association secretary Vipul Phadke stated in a press note.
Phadke revealed that the GCA wouldn’t sit idle and instead would utilise the time to develop infrastructure for player development.
“This year we have decided to concentrate on developing the infrastructure so that all Division, Premier, and school matches can be planned in a better way next year,” he stated.
Though the Premier Division League and U-19 camp has been called off, Phadke stated that they will take stock of the situation for the month of May and might resume certain activities.
“GCA will organise camps for U-19 and Ranji Trophy Boys in the month of May depending upon the Covid situation in the state and in the country,” he added.
