GCA DISTRIBUTES Cricket kit bags to 19 schools in Mormugao

VASCO: The Goa Cricket Association distributed cricket kit bags to around 19 schools from Mormugao taluka in a small event organised by the GCA at Almeida Hall in Vasco, on Monday. 

GCA also expressed their willingness to provide nets and pitches to schools which want to promote cricket.

GCA Coordinator Rupesh Naik said, “GCA welcomed the decision to have a cricket tournament for U-14 and U-16 players”.

“It is the responsibility of the schools to properly utilise the kits distributed to them by the GCA. I request teachers to encourage students to play matches because in matches there is no second chance and cricketers will develop and improve on their mistakes in every match they play,” Naik said.

 “A well known player Siraj who is playing in the IPL is a son of a rickshaw driver. Most cricketers are made by hard work and physical fitness,” Naik cited further.

Meanwhile, Vipul Phadke, secretary of GCA revealed due to the COVID-19 pandemic the cricket kit distribution which was supposed to be happen in the month of March got delayed further. 

“GCA will also provide pitches and nets to schools which are willing to promote cricket, ” said Phadke.

Dr Baban Parukekar was the chief guest on the occasion. Several GCA officials were also present atthe function.
