GCA on course to expel four members and club

Managing Committee to recommend General Body to expel Vilas Dessai, Putu Rama Dessai, Vinay Gaonker, Suhas Naik and Sarvodaya Sporting Club for six years; Guilty of misconduct on January 2 at Sanguem

PORVORIM: The Managing Committee of the Goa Cricket Association has decided unanimously to recommend to its General Body to expel Vilas Dessai, Putu Rama Dessai, Vinay Gaonker, Suhas Naik and Sarvodaya Sporting Club from the association for a period of six years for their misconduct and maligning the image of GCA on January 2 at Sanguem.
The announcement was made to the media at the GCA headquarters, here, on Thursday.
An ugly spat had broken out between Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldesai and Goa Cricket Association members who alleged that the Phadesai’s men obstructed the inauguration of the Sanguem ground and also abused the GCA personnel.
President of Goa Cricket Association, Chetan Dessai stated that the association has issued show cause notices to the four individuals and Sarvodaya Sporting Club seeking their replies as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for the incident occurred on January 2 at Sanguem cricket ground.
The replies filed by the four individuals were not satisfactory while Sarvodaya Sporting Club has sought more time to reply.
The Managing Committee decided not to give any further time to the club.
Since the conduct of the four persons and Sarvadoya Club has brought disrepute to GCA, the Managing Committee resolved to recommend the general body to expel them from the association for six years.
The Managing Committee also resolved to suspend the four individuals and Sarvodaya Sporting Club from all the activities of the association pending decision of the General Body, informed Dessai.
The secretary of GCA, Vinod Phadke stated that the GCA has received the Justice Lodha committee report and some of the recommendations such as proxy system should not be allowed in the election of the association, appointment of lady member on the committee of the association, members of the committee should be cricket players etc made by the Lodha committed are acceptable to them. 
The GCA will study the report of Lodha committee thoroughly and send its suggestions to BCCI.
Phadke further mentioned that GCA has decided to organize their first corporate T20 tournament from March 12 to 20. 
The renowned four companies mainly ONGC, Reliance, Air India and Indian Oil Corporation have confirmed their participation. Six teams from Goa Dempo CC, Chowgule SC, Caculo, Geno SC, Salgaocar SC and Sun Estate will also take part.
