GFA condole Martin’s death

PANJIM: The Goa Football Association (GFA) condoled the death of Martinho F D’Souza who passed away yesterday at Macasana. He was 78 and his funeral will take place on Thursday.
After visiting the residence of D’Souza at Macasana, Churchill Alemao, GFA president said: “Our deepest sympathies go out to his family. The GFA is deeply saddened at the passing away of Martin. We pray that God will grant his family the strength needed to get through this moment and may his soul rest in peace. Remembering his gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. Death is only the end of the physical life and the beginning of an eternal life. Our heartfelt condolences.” 
Churchill recalled that Martin was at one time part of the life of Goan football family. 
Martin, as he was popularly known, was an active GFA member in seventies, having played a prominent role in the administration and organisation, given his passion for football. He was one of the 23-member signatories to the Memorundum of the GFA Association when the GFA was first time registered with the Registrar of Societies in 1977.
 He was a member of the Managing Committee of the GFA from 1972-74 and 1974-77.
Meanwhile, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of Martin before the start of Goa Pro League match between Dempo and Salgaocar at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
