PANJIM: The GFA plans to appoint a foreign coach for the teams to be fielded for National Games and Santosh Trophy, stated president Caitano Fernandes.
Caitano said some coaches from Armenia, Spain, Germany and France had already been identified and that a final decision would be taken in a month.
The selection of the coach is primarily aimed at ensuring a good performance in the two events. The selection of the team will take place before the monsoon and the camp will be held at Duler stadium.
When it was pointed out that Goa had not performed well in the recent past, Caitano said the GFA would provide all the facilities but the performance was in the hands of the players. “We have to select young boys from First and Second Division teams and give them an opportunity. The team for the National Games will be an Under-21 one.
