PANJIM: The Goa Football Association decided to propose voting to the Executive Committee on an all Goa basis as against the present zonal system, during their annual general body meeting held at a city hotel, on Sunday.
“The general body has agreed to discuss and decide about carrying out further amendments in the statutes as well as private tournament rules and official competition rules through an EGM to be convened later. It is also decided to propose voting to the Executive Committee on an All Goa bases as against the present zonal system followed,” said the press release issued by the GFA.
With GFA being sidelined by AIFF for the upcoming FIFA U-17 world cup, the state governing body for football also decided to protect their image and pride.
“The general body also represented the facts that GFA had no place in the Executive Committee of the AIFF but vowed to protect its self respect and pride under all circumstances. It was decided that FIFA and AFC be informed about the non engagement of the LOC with the GFA on issues about the U-17 World Cup to be held in Goa,” read the release.
“The General Body passed a resolution that the Government should make all grounds available to the GFA to conduct official competitions free of any charge and similarly to the village clubs in their respective villages to be allowed use of grounds without any charges for their own inter village tournament.”
It was also approved to maintain the terms of participation fee of Rs. 30 lakh and a deposit of Rs. 20 lakh as fixed by the Executive Committee for inclusion of the 12th team into the Goa Pro League.
The General Body approved the induction of the following new clubs as provisional clubs namely Shree Naguesh Maharudra Sports and Cultural Club (Curca), Siddheshwar Sports and Cultural Club (Surla-Bicholim), Verna Cultural and Sports Association, M7 Football Club (Panjim), and Pinto’s Youth Club of Baradi (Velim) subject to them fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
The General Body also accorded the Permanent Status to the following clubs namely
Assonora United Football Club, Football Club Neura, Kevnem Sports Club, Panchawadi
United Sports Club, Ponda Footballers and Vailankani Football Sports Club Morjim.
