PANJIM: Referees officiating in the Goa Professional League this year will have the advantage of using the referees communication system also called ‘headset’ for more correct and faster decisions leading to improvement in the quality of refereeing.
At a special meeting of the referees sub-committee, the President Elvis Gomes who himself presided over the meeting proposed to introduce the system from the upcoming season in the professional league. Elvis said, “These interventions are long overdue and will help in the improvement of decision making thus reducing on-field disputes, loss of playing time as well disputes before judicial bodies.”
The sub-committee also decided to introduce measures for regular fitness programs for referees and also decided to honour referees and match commissioners with outstanding achievements.
Meanwhile, Gomes informed that the launch of the second edition of the women’s league will be held on July 31 in Panjim.
