PORVORIM: Indirectly stating that it was too late to agitate against the e-PoS machines in Fair Price Shops, Civil Supplies Minister Govind Gaude said that he will try to compensate them by increasing their commission.
“I know it is a question of 454 fair price shop owners and also three lakh ration card holders but this should have been done long back as the decision has been taken by the Union government and the State has no role to play,” Gaude said.
The minister stated that he had brought to the notice of the stakeholders about the changes but nobody acted at that time.
“The commission what the Fair Price Shop owners get is 0.70 paise per kg which we are increasing to Rs 2 per kg. However, the owners have demanded an increase of Rs 5,” Gaude said adding, “I can only assure that I can increase the amount to Rs 2.9 to Rs 3 per kg.”
He said though he is concerned about the 400-plus fair price shop owners there is nothing much he can do as he is dependent on union government.
