PANJIM: Over 80 referees from all over Goa packed into the Goa football Development Council’s (GFDC) conference hall, to commemorate the Asian Football Confederations (AFC’s) Referees Day, on Monday.
“Referees are an integral part of football,” stated GFDC Member Secretary and GFA President Elvis Gomes.
“Referees must be recognized, respected and given dignity they deserve,” said GFDC Chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro.
AFC referee instructor from Kerala, Michael Andrews discussed his plans how he expected GFA and GFDC to come together and bring about a change in refereeing. The referees were then put through the basics of refereeing.
