GFDC coaches evaluation workshop concludes

PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) organised a coaches evaluation workshop at GFDC Corlim Centre, Monfort ground for the coaches from North Goa and South Goa, recently.

PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) organised a coaches evaluation workshop at GFDC Corlim Centre, Monfort ground for the coaches from North Goa and South Goa, recently. 
This workshop was conducted under the supervision of GFDC technical in charge, Derryl D’Souza. He has completed DFB International Coaching course in Hennef, Germany along with FIFA Grassroots / Youth Courses in India.
The objective of the workshop was to enhance and upgrade the coaches knowledge at the same time, prepare them for the upcoming AIFF/AFC coaching license courses. It comprised of different theoretical and practical sessions which included brain storming sessions and group activities. This workshop was also conducted with an aim to assess the growth of each coach at GFDC.
Speaking on the occasion GFDC Chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro expressed pleasure over the turnout. “This workshop was held to assess the coaches and the topics chosen here are similar to those in the C license course,” he said.
“Coaches evaluation workshop is a key as it is said that better coaches make better players. This was a practical cum evaluation workshop. It comprised of dribbling and ball control from 8 to 10 years, passing and support play for 10 to 12 years, heading for 10 to 12 years,” told Derryl, an AFC ‘A’ License Coach and AIFF Coaching instructor.
 “I also gave emphasis on improving the quality of first touch, defending play, 3v2 with finishing at goal, improve shooting, combination play- overlapping, wall pass, attacking play 4v4, goalkeeper ball handling and shot stopping,” he added.
The workshop was attended by over 100 coaches from across Goa.
