GFDC inaugurates its 38th centre in Divar

PANJIM: The Goa Football Development Council kicked off its 38th football development centre in Divar, recently. 
Addressing the gathering, GFDC Chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro expressed his happiness with the opening of grassroots football centre in the island, a place which has immense talent, and hoped that the trainees would fulfil the dream of our former chief minister Manohar Parrikar to develop football in the State. 
Further, he urged children to be committed and attend sessions regularly at the same time develop passion for the game and derive inspiration from Pele, whose movie has been screened recently. 
Speaking on the occasion, Alexio da Costa, member secretary, assured that the commitment GFDC has for the young trainees starting from grassroots training aged 6 years and leading to youth training with avenues for academy training. 
Chief guest MLA of Cumbarjua Constituency Pandurang Madkaikar hailed the initiative taken by GFDC and for the tremendous work done at various centres across the State.
Further he urged children to take up this opportunity and bring laurel to the country, State and the island. 
Among the dignitaries present were Fr Francis Pereira, former assistant parish priest of Our Lady of Piety Church; Superintendent of Police Allen D’Sa, President of Piedade Youth Association (PYA) Beato Dmello, Joseph Aguair administrator, PYA and Prakash Pereira, founder member PYA.
