Ghantker bags triple crown

Narayan (Ajit) Ghantker bagged a triple crown at the Civil Services Table Tennis Tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Indoor Stadium, Campal here.
The reigning champion, representing Goa Medical College, created history winning the men singles title for the 20th row in succession. Partnering Dr Ajit Nagarsekar, he also added the men’s doubles title.
Sunita Kanekar representing Government High School, Sanquelim won the ladies singles title while Goa Medical College won the overall championship.
Laxmikant Naik, Asst. Accounts Officer (DSYA) was the chief guest and distributed the prizes along ith Mahesh Rivonkar, coordinator.
The tournament was conducted by NIS coach Irwin Cordo who was assisted by Ashok Mahambre.
Results: Men singles: Amey Lawande (PWD) beat Manguesh Chodankar (FDA), Dr Ajit Nagarsekar (GMC) beat Gurudas Kerkar 3-0, Narayan (Ajit) Ghantker beat Amey Lawande 3-0, Rajendra Naik beat Dr Ajit Nagarsekar 3-0, Narayan (Ajit) Ghantker beat Rajendra Naik 3-0 (finals).
Men doubles: Amey Lawande and Antonio Corte (PWD) beat Rajendra Naik and Manguesh Chodankar (FDA) 3-0, Narayan (Ajit) Ghantker and Dr Ajit Nagarsekar (GMC) beat Amey Lawande and Antonio Corte (PWD) 3-0 (finals).
Ladies singles: Lisette Camara (DSYA) beat Shilpa Gawas (Excise) 3-0, Sunita Kanekar (Govt. H.S Sanquelim) beat Jonita Fernandes (GMC) 3-0, Anuja Cokre (Govt. H.S Sanquelim) beat Lisette Camara (DSYA) 3-1, Sunita Kanekar beat Anuja Cokre 3-0 (finals).
Veterans singles: Narayan (Ajit) Ghantker (GMC) beat Manguesh Chodankar (FDA) 3-0,
Amey Lawande (PWD) beat Gurudas Kerkar 3-0, Rajendra Naik (FDA) beat Amey Lawande (PWD) 3-0, Narayan (Ajit) Ghantker (GMC) beat Rajendra Naik (FDA) 3-0 (finals).
