Ghumteshwar T20 champs

MARGAO: A swashbuckling 72 runs by man-of-the-match Vikas Dessai helped Ghumetshwar Warriors to register a 21-victory over Om Cricketers to clinch the all-Goa Sanguem T20 cricket tournament organized by Sanguem Cricketers, at Sanguem sports complex, recently.

Put into bat first, Ghumteshwar Warriors scored 183 for 9. Amar Arkas contributed valuable 35 runs. For Om Cricketers Abdul Salam was the wrecker-in-chief scalping 3 for 34.
In reply, Om Cricketers struggled and scored 162 for 8. Only Suraj Dongre scored a respectable 44 runs. He was well supported by Damodar Redkar, who chipped in 29 runs. For Ghumteshwar Warriors, Tushar Sawant and Puspshil Dessai shared three wickets each. They bagged Rs 50,000 and a coveted trophy while Om Cricketer had to settle for Rs 30,000.
Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldesai was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Deepak Marathe, chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council; Uguem Sarpanch Alka Faldesai and President of Sanguem Cricketers Supraj Naik Tari.

Sankalp Pednekar 3-42, Abdul Salam 3-34, Vinod Wilson 1-27, Sarfaraj Naik 1-27) beat Om Cricketers, 162 for 8 in 20 overs (Suraj Dongre 44, Damodar Redkar 29, Vinod Wilson 22, Gajanand Ajgaonkar 20 runs. Tushar Sawant 3-29, Pushpshill Desai 3-20, Sagar Gosavi 1-29, Dashrath Dhotre 1-29).
Individual prizes went to Best batsman Vikas Desai (Ghumteshwar Warriors), Best bowler Sankalp Pednekar (Om Cricketers), Man of the tournament Naushad Shaikh (Ghumteshwar Warriors).
