MARGAO: Ghumteshwar Warriors Sanvordem beat Goan Warriors, Panjim by six wickets to emerge champs on the JP-MCC T-20 cricket tournament organized by Margao Cricket Club (MCC) in association with Jayesh Prabhudesai Trust at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, Fatorda on Sunday.
Batting first, Goan Warriors scored 163 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs, Bravesh Shetty cracked 65 runs. He was ably supported by former state Ranji player Yeshwant Barde and Swapnil Salvi who scored 32 runs apiece. For Ghumteshwar Warrior Noushad Shaikh, Desharath Dhotre and Naresh Assoldekar shared two wickets each.
In reply Ghumteshwar Warrior romped home by scoring 164 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 18.4 overs.
The highlight of the day was quick fire unbeaten 50 runs by Dheeraj Narvekar. While Vikas Dessai added 43 useful runs for Goan Warriors Bravesh Shetty took 2 for 35 runs.
Ghumteshwar Warriors recieved Rs 75,000 while Goa Warriors recieved Rs 50,000. Akash Khaunte, Managing Director of Alcon Enterprises was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Semi-finalists, Oxford CC and Challenging Challengers received Rs 10,000 each.
