GM Saptarshi, Mandar Lad, Ramkrishna and Siddhanth lead with four points

PANJIM: GM Saptarshi Roy Choudhury of  Railways along with  Mandar Lad of Goa, Ramkrishna J of Union Bank and Siddhanth Poonja are leading with four points after the end of fourth round of Late Shri Vasudeva V Dempo  Memorial Fide Rating Chess Tournament 2023, at Rajaram Smruti Sabhagruha Gomantak Maratha Samaj, Panjim, on Saturday.

Santu Mondal, Joy Lazar, Anil Kumar O T , Aryan Raikar,  Aniket Bapat, Aditya Savalkar, Ivan Savio Rodrigues, Ahaz  E U, Ayush Shirodkar are  in second position with 3.5 points.

IM Vikramaditya Kulkarni along with 18 other players are on three points.

The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Pallavi Dempo, executive director of Dempo Industries Ltd by lighting the traditional lamp and making the first move on the board with Suhas Asnodkar, former secretary of Goa Chess Association in the presence of Mahesh Candolkar, Arvind Mhamal, Dattaram Pinge, Sagar Sakordekar, Atish Angle, Naresh Pednekar, Sandesh Amonkar , Prakash Sawant , Pallavi Kakodkar and others.

Players from Gujrat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Odisha, West Bengal, Railways, Union Bank, Defence, host State Goa and one player from Hungary have participated in the tournament.

Top seed Grand Master Saptarshi Roy Chodhury from West Bengal, International Master Vikramaditya Kulkarni from Maharashtra, FM Joydeep Dutta, Santu Mondal, Madar Lad, J Ramkrishna, Marthandan K U, Anilkumar O T, Pradeep Tiwari, Ajay Kumar Rai along with 63 other players are on one point after  round one.
