Goa beaten again

PANJIM: Half-centuries by Dinesh Karthik (90) and B Aparajith (75) steered Tamil Nadu to a 92-run victory over Goa in South Zone Subbaih Pillai cricket tournament at Porvorim, Friday.

Tamil Nadu piled up 274 for the loss of nine wickets, built around Karthik’s 90 from 87 balls and his fifth-wicket 120-run stand with Aparajith who contributed 75 in 65 balls. For Goa, Saurabh Bandekar, Gaurish Gawas, Shadab Jakati and Reagan Pinto bagged two wickets each.

Goa in reply, were all out for 182 runs in 43.1 overs as they suffered their second successive defeat. Only Ravikant Shukla showed some resistance to the Tamil Nadu bowlers scoring 61 runs in 69 balls with six boundaries. First match centurion skipper Sagun Kamat, alongwith experienced Swapnil Asnodkar contributed 20 runs each to the team’s total.

For Tamil Nadu pacer Sunil Sam was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Baba Aparajith bagged two.

At MCC ground, Andhra Pradesh registered their second victory in-a-row with a thrilling two run-win over Hyderabad, while at BITS Pilani ground, Karnataka also registered their second win with a 52 runs win over Kerala.
