PANJIM: Goa clinched their first set of gold medals at Khelo India Youth Games in Panchkula as Niral Wadekar won in the Artistic individual while Team Goa comprising Niral Wadekar, Aashnee Bhat Sarmalkar, Frazeen Zakati, Yashica Chevli & Manaswi Das emerged as winners in the Artistic group in Yogasana.
Goa Sports Minister Govind Gaude expressed joy and profound gratitude to the medal winning athletes, coaches, support staff and parents, for achieving the otherwise near to impossible task of winning Gold medals in Yogasana. “Our ancient sport incorporated in the games for the very first time and not as popular as other mainstream sports but a great honour and achievement nonetheless, as it requires great dedication, commitment , rigorous/painstaking training for hours and hours,” he said.
