Goa crash out

PANJIM: Goa's dream run in the 60th National School Games U-14 cricket came to an end after losing to Uttar Pradesh in the quarter-finals, in Mahbubnagar, Telangana.

This was Goa’s maiden appearance in the quarters in the history of National School Games.
In the quarters, Goa electing to bat first could manage only 78 for 5 in 25 overs with Tushar Kudnekar (20), Digesh Raikar (22) and Ketan Nandrekar (10) top- scoring.
Akash Singh, Ankur Singh, Sourabh Verma and Saurabh Srivastava picked a wicket each for UP. Chasing a small target, UP surpassed the target in just 12.1 overs. Sourabh Shrivastava (24), Abdur Rahman (18), Akash Singh (16) scored for UP.
Rutwik Naik, Sagar Vantamuri, Harsh Jethaji and Tushar Patel picked a wicket each for Goa.
In the pre-quarters played early morning, Goa defeated Andhra Pradesh by 3 runs in a nail-biting finish.
Electing to bat first, Goa scored 103 for 6 in 15 overs. Skipper Digesh Raikar (43 not out) and Ketan Nandrekar (36), batted well for Goa. Srikar (2), Vijay and Abbas picked wickets for Andhra.
In reply, Andhra were all out for 100 in 15th over. Lakez Reddy (39), Verma (16), Nitish Kumat (13) played well for Andhra. Tusar Patel (3), Harsj Jethaji (2), Rutwik Naik (2) picked wickets for Goa.
